Project for the University of Iceland

The University of Iceland hired us to work on their software development, where we are programming in PHP in Ugla and related systems. We have also been programming in React front-ends and enhancing the search engine with work in Solr. Our expertise in search engines also includes Elasticsearch, including in projects related to Ísland.is.

Our experts have therefore temporarily become part of the team at the University of Iceland.

Billing system based on license plate number

Stefna has built a comprehensive collection system with a connection to the vehicle registry, as Stefna is a reseller for the Icelandic Transport Authority. The system is connected to cameras where license plates are read. The system's role is to manage car owner access, receive payments and manage the traffic of each car individually.

System modules are all in PHP, individual modules are made modular so that they can be connected to different endpoints (e.g. cameras, accounting systems, etc.) and communicate with each other via web services (API).

Reykjavik Energy

Stefna has in recent years worked for Reykjavík Energy and related companies on the development and design of their software in collaboration with OR employees and other software houses.

Crochet

Stefna has been servicing Hekla in web development for over 10 years and uses PHP mostly in that work.

In the digital journey of crochet, a lot has been done in internal systems. PHP has been used in these important systems and Vue for the front end. A central API was built that has the role of connecting the same system and system components. For example, the API takes data from internal systems and comes to an online store, which is precisely a solution from Stefna. But in this way, there is a tailor-made PHP back end for staff to work in and all changes are delivered quickly and reliably through this integration.

We also built a specialized interface for staff in PHP that receives information about the model and accessories of a car (order), which then returns the relevant data to Hekla's internal system for processing.

Project for the Icelandic Environmental Agency

In the same way as at the University of Iceland, our experts implemented specific system modules into the current technical environment of the Environment Agency. There, we have worked on projects related to the reception and registration of waste from recycling facilities by building a web service for data submission (which was previously submitted annually in CSV format) and significantly improved statistical data on waste issues. We are also working on additions and updates to the system for the allocation and registration of reindeer hunting, along with other smaller projects.

The institute's CTO handles code control and reviews all the plugins that are built, so the code remains fully owned and operated by the institute.

CAE Icelandair

CAE Icelandair approached Stefna to implement digital processes and solve multiple challenges. Stefna analyzed the workflow, how training sessions were created, and booking requests were entered into slots.

Following an analysis, an approach to improved processes was proposed and a specialized booking system was built, which has now been in operation for over a year.
